Along the stretch of two way road you will find yourself enveloped and encompassed  by some of the tallest trees on planet earth – the gigantic California Redwoods.

The road cuts through part of the Humboldt Redwoods Forest which comprises  51,256 acres of redwoods and waterways.  The park follows the south fork of the Eel River .

The visitors center at the park is near Weott .  The center is open both in the spring and summer and can provide excellent information and resources on the region’s opportunities both recreational , flora and fauna.

Lastly “Founder’s Grove” contains some of the tallest trees in the Humboldt Redwoods Forest. The groves tallest tree , some 362 feet, was felled in 1991.
